Just in time for winter! Cute and easy, like those stitching kits you used to get when you were a kid that came with a gigantic plastic needle.

Skull Chair
I personally think skulls are more than a little overplayed, but this skull chair by Pool is pretty cool:
"Souviens toi que tu vas mourir, chair” (translated :"Remember that you will die") is described by the designers as "an emblematic monobloc chair reinterpreted as an expression of vanity. This memento mori represented by a skull acts as a leitmotiv for those who seek the comfort of a chair and the ceremonial act of being seated."
How deep.
How deep.

The average Lifespan of a Saul Bass Logo Is 34 Years
A comprehensive look at the legacy of Saul Bass logos, some with slight modifications, over the years.
Bass … created some of the most recognizable and iconic logos of all time, but they’re gradually disappearing. The most recent death of a Saul Bass logo has been the famous United ‘tulip,’ which was used by the company for 37 years until the merger with Continental in 2010. This caused quite a controversy in the design world, because 1) you don’t mess with a Saul Bass logo 2) you don’t replace a Saul Bass logo with a generic clipart-like version that’s much worse than the original.

Centaurs!
![]() |
| ‘Although Skulls Unlimited generally articulates species that actually exist, we are sometimes asked to create custom skeletal mounts, such as this Centaur, created using the torso of a real human skeleton and melding it with the body of a horse’ |
They had servants!
Oh wait. This never happened.
This has been my desktop background for the past six months:
This is nice too. The centaurettes were reportedly supposed to be topless, but were censored.
All of Pastoral Symphony below (nice, high quality), centaurs start at the 5 minute mark:

I NEED to go here.
At the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island owned by Hilton Hotels, guests can spend the night 5 meters under the Indian Ocean in a private suite. The suite is encased in plexiglass and is accessible by descending a spiral staircase.
All you need is a loved one, and some mushrooms....actually, scratch that. I'd probably have a panic attack.

Ole!
Today I went to the Long Beach Antique Market for the first time. Held once a month, its such a massive flea market, you're guaranteed to find something you can't live without. Flea markets are one of my favorite places to shop, for so many reasons. I grew up going antiquing with my mom, I collect vintage pottery and I adore vintage clothes. Vintage furniture if often times more inexpensive as well, and the quality doesnt even compare to things made today.
I've always felt I was born at the wrong time, and I prefer things that are unique, one of a kind, and frankly, OLD.
And the best part of flea markets is the hunt! You never know what you'll find.
Purchases today included:
Antlers!
This custom made gaucho hat. I LOVE hats and they're always on my list. I usually ask what the story is behind an item (half the fun of buying vintage), but I think I was just on too much of a shoppers high the second I zeroed in on this one:

Fun fun fun! What you can't see from these crummy photos (my camera charger should be here any day, thank goodness), is that the hat is actually a dark greenish-blue, and made of silk velvet.
It reminded me a lot of this Chanel campaign from last year. Gaucho hats also had a presence on the spring runways.
Diane Von Furstenberg
Hermes
And my favorite gaucho hat wearer, Zorro!
I also picked up this swell danish modern duck wall hanging set:
Ive been feeling more and more of an affinity for danish modern lately. It may be what my furnishings evolve towards. Piece by piece!
The ducks are very similar to ones that where hanging in Duck Phillips office on Mad Men. How could I resist?
